Sustainability – A Guest Blog Post

Today’s post is a poem submitted by Chris Faith of Scranton, PA. A proponent of sustainability, and a natural storyteller, he began his writing career at age 48. Thanks Chris for sharing this poem with us!

What you want, what you need
One is only sought, one is always found
The more we try to break the rule
The quicker you will be put into the ground

The world will only give you
What it has for millions of years
Air to breathe, the sun on your back
It’s not a machine to remove all of your fears

The length of time it takes you
Not to crave what you saw in a dream
You’ll cuss yourself for all the wasted time
Go to the top of Mt. Regret and scream

To go against the trend
Of grabbing all that is there
You need to think of the future
If not soon the cupboard will be bare

So you make a commitment
You face the sobering thought
If you don’t start now, and tow the line
How will future generations be taught?
