NWEI’s self-led discussion courses are designed to spark shared learning, shared stories, and shared action. Each course book also includes tips and guidelines to help facilitators organize a course.

The World of Health course book includes information and resources for making healthier choices in what we eat, what products we use and buy, and how we inhabit and maintain our home spaces. Readings, video clips, and short assignments are included in each session. A detailed list of articles and resources included in the World of Health course book are available in the Table of Contents.

Participants read each week’s material (which may include brief articles, book excerpts and/or links to online content) on their own. During each session, group members take turns facilitating by leading others through discussion questions provided in the course book.

“The most fundamental message is for people to remember that the environment is not just something that they visit on weekends or during their summer vacation – that the environment is all around us, that it is in us and we are in it, and that it profoundly influences our health.”

– Dr. Philip Landrigan, Director of Children’s Environmental Health Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center
